New Feiter concrete block plant in Xanten started operations

November 7, 2023

In March this year, a new chapter was opened for Feiter’s renowned concrete block plant in Xanten on the Lower Rhine. A state-of-the-art factory site on 3 hectares began manufacturing concrete products, including pavers, slabs, design elements, natural stone products and ceramic tiles, all manufactured to the latest standards.

The official commissioning of the new site was a memorable occasion, where Managing Director Matthias Feiter had the honor of welcoming esteemed guests such as Richard Trappe, Managing Director of HS Anlagentechnik, and Silvio Schade, Editor-in-Chief of BFT International. This happened already at the end of June, and the celebration was marked by joy and pride, as production had started far ahead of the originally planned start date in June.

The history of Feiter Betonsteinwerk began as early as 1961 when Rudolf Feiter Sr. started selling sand and gravel from his agricultural business. In 1964, the production of basement blocks for house construction was started. In the following years, from 1973 to 1981, his four sons, Hermann-Josef, Rudolf Jun., Leonhard and Ludwig Feiter, joined the company to cope with the increasing demand for paving stones.

The company’s successful development led to the construction of a new concrete block plant with two production lines at the Linnich site in the mid-1980s. At the same time, a new gravel pit was established to extract and process the raw materials on site. The Heinsberg site remained as a gravel pit for raw material extraction. The four sons took over the management and contributed to the company’s steady growth. In 1992, another production line was put into operation, and in 1998, the concrete plant in Xanten was taken over and continued.

To meet the challenges of a generational change in today’s world and to manage the resulting opportunities and changes in a long-term and structured manner, the company was split into Feiter Verwaltungs GmbH and Feiter Betonsteinwerk GmbH in 2018. A new family generation took over the management between 2004 and 2013, namely Alexander, Joachim and Matthias Feiter. With the active support of the previous generation, they are committed to continuing the company’s tradition while maintaining down-to-earthness, creativity, and customer proximity.

The new production facility in Xanten was built in just ten months and could start production three months ahead of schedule. Matthias Feiter praised the smooth cooperation of all parties involved, starting with the Haarup mixers, the Hess concrete block machine RH2000-4MVA and HS Anlagentechnik for the large chamber system, and the other companies involved, such as Assyx, VHV, Bikotronic, and many others.

The commissioning of this modern concrete block plant in Xanten is a success for Feiter and a significant milestone for the construction industry, as high-quality and sustainable building materials from the region are available to increase the surrounding area’s construction quality and promote innovative projects.

Interested customers and professionals are cordially invited to visit the new site in Xanten and see the modern production processes and the high-quality concrete and natural stone products. With this significant expansion, the Feiter concrete block plant is sending out a strong signal for the future of the construction industry and again demonstrating its pioneering role in producing high-quality building materials.
