Lintel concrete plant modernized: New production plant in Porta Westfalica

January 12, 2024

The new production facility at the Lintel concrete plant in Porta Westfalica has been in operation since the beginning of June 2023. It was supplied and installed by the Hess Group. The RH 2000-4MVA concrete block machine forms the central element and is already the second plant of its kind for Lintel. The integration of the plant into the existing concept of the factory was positively emphasized.
The Lintel Group operates five sites in northwest Germany and has been active in the construction products industry since 1982. The company produces a wide range of building products and is committed to sustainability. This includes the processing of rejects and production waste, 100% of which is fed back into production. Energy-optimized production facilities and the increased use of electrically powered means of transport also contribute to improving energy efficiency.
The aim of the modernization of the concrete plant in Porta Westfalica was to replace the existing block making machines with a new high-performance plant and to modify the existing mixing plant. The Hess Group supplied the plant technology, including the RH 2000-4 MVA concrete block machine and two planetary mixers were supplied by Pemat.

HESS GROUP installed the following plant technology:

  • RH 2000-4 MVA concrete block machine in robust high-performance design
  • High-performance control for precise and fast movement sequences
  • Automatic quick mold change: The installed mold is released and ejected under the face mix unit. At the same time, the new mold is transported into the machine under the face mix unit and clamped. This is done quickly and conveniently by one employee using a mobile panel, which significantly reduces the risk of injury.
  • 4 tamper head cylinders for optimum block height accuracy
  • Color mixing system for the face mix unit
  • Movable core and face mix unit for easier cleaning and improved access

In addition to the above-mentioned technology, other plant equipment includes lasers for block height measurement, separator unit for additional product checks, a double wash-out unit, an elevator / finger car / lowerator with 28 levels, one each block remover and doubling unit, grouping unit, one each fully electric cubing system with servo motor and board package mover. A second drying side was installed to automatically integrate a finishing system. Packaging is carried out with cover sheet dispenser, horizontal and vertical strapping as well as strip inserter and surface protection with waterproofing device.
The entire production process is ensured by a sophisticated material feed and dosing system. This includes color mixing systems and intelligent feeding of aggregates and cement. The fresh concrete is fed to the on-site bucket conveyor by means of a belt conveyor.
According to Lintel Managing Director Thomas Theilmeier, the successful implementation of this modernization project would not have been possible without the committed cooperation with other partners and suppliers. The curing chamber from Kraft Curing and partners such as Beckhoff, Gierecker & Bröckelmann, ZP Planungsgesellschaft and Wegener Brandschutz deserve special mention.
